GENERAL PROGRAM QUESTIONS
Q. When does the upcoming cohort start?
A. Applications for each cohort are accepted and reviewed through May 15th. The cohort begins coursework in Fall semester and completes in spring semester.
Q. What is the resident's schedule like?
A. Residents are in their student teaching classroom 3 days a week and coursework is typically held at a KHSD school site on the 4th weekday, leaving evenings and Fridays free. TPA coursework may be held on Wednesdays after school.
Q. How does KHTR help graduates obtain teaching positions with KHSD after the program?
A. KHTR grads are given priority entrance interviews and are required to commit to at least 4 years teaching for KHSD. Residents are supported through the application process by the program's coordinators and district personnel in the Spring semester before completion of program. KHTR offers a carefully aligned pathway and coursework that prepares them specifically for teaching in KHSD.
Q.What kinds of people does KHTR look for when selecting residents?
A. We look for highly motivated, responsible, professional, and collaborative individuals who have a passion for both their content area as well as for educating students from Kern County.
Q. What grade-levels will I be able to teach after the participating in KHTR?
A. Our residents who earn a Single Subject Teaching Credential are authorized to teach 7-12th grade.

APPLICATION QUESTIONS
Q. What are the minimum qualifications to apply?
A. Students must have the following to be eligible:
- a bachelor's degree in any subject area
- completed their pre-requisite, foundational coursework
- passed the CBEST
- passed their relevant CSETS OR gotten a subject matter waiver through their undergraduate program
A. Applications will be accepted and reviewed for the year up until May 15th, however, applications are accepted at any time during the year as we keep in touch with possible recruits for later cohorts.

Financial Aid opportunities are case-by-case and unique to each student, therefore, any questions regarding Financial Aid need to go directly through that office.
